About life with a Bengal

May 28, 2017

Hello dear readers! First of all, Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to take you into this journey of blogposts, telling about all things in life, especially cats ofcourse.

Here I am writing my first blogpost ever. If you told me this 6 months ago, I wouldn't have believed you. I was always very interested in writing things. From my own fictional stories, to a review about a product of something, to a pleading about a certain animal Law which I think could use some changes. I love to write. Though, I was always too shy to post these things. What if no one reads it? What if it is written bad? Well, I decided to take the jump and just go for it.

About what is my very first blogpost going to be? Well, about the most obvious thing you can imagine: my Bengal Thor. He was our very first Bengal. Oh boy, did it take time till we decided it was a Bengal we needed in our lives. We did a lot of research to really understand what it takes to own a Bengal, but nothing can prepare you for what's coming. Really, they are crazy. It is like the most active dog you can imagine, in a leopard coat... But although we curse sometimes, wishing that Thor would shut up at 4 am in the morning, whising he would stop climbing on our walls while destroying our wallpaper, we are so blessed to have him (and his awesome sister Freya too, by the way). He lights up our lives. It feels like life was so boring before we had him and I could not imagine a life without him anymore. I know I sound like a real crazy catlady now, but hell yeah, maybe I am one. And honestly, I'm not afraid to admit it anymore, lol!

Now, after bragging about Thor for the last 5 minutes, maybe it's time to introduce myself. My name is Rani and I am one of his servants, as I like to call myself. Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with animals. I grew up with 3 black cats and a white dog, way before we had Thor. They all became very old, but unfortunately, life isn't eternal. I even love turtles and snakes, but please don't put a spider in a radius of 100 meters around me or I'll become crazy, lol!

Currently I am studying Law. My biggest dream is to defend animals rights. Here in Belgium, in my opinion we have way too few rights to defend animals. And now I'm talking about Belgium, but actually I should say worldwide. If you look at America for example, they still allow declawing! It's a torture for cats to be declawed. For the people who don't really know anything about declawing, I am certainly going to write a post about it, but in mean time you can always look at this website from my Instagramfriend @Kittapout. She has adopted a Bengal cat with deformed claws (by declawing) and is raising money to try to ban it in New Jersey. You can find her story here:

Well back to my story. As I said, I would love to be an animal lawyer. What can be more beautiful than to defend the most innocent living beings on this planet? The ones without a voice? The ones that would never harm a living being than solely on instinct? Well, to me, not much would be more fulfilling than that. So that's why that's my dream, and now with my kittycat becoming famous, I am hoping to create a beautiful and wide voice for all creatures that deserve it!

In this blog I am hoping to inspire you, to make you laugh and maybe even cry! :-) I will talk about Bengals, about Animal Rights, about making DIY cat toys, about animal adoption and so much more! Feel free to leave a comment or to contact us via when you have suggestions about other blogposts you would like to read!

Peace out and Paws up,

Rani & Thor
